Interests
I am fascinated by macro photography and have been influenced by the abstract surrealism found in the works of Imogen Cunningham and Aaron Siskind.
I have experimented with traditional film, using my Canon AE-1 and Mamiya C220, with the aim of expanding my knowledge of photographic formats.
Graphic art is another interest, particularly the film posters and logos created by Saul Bass and Ed Rucha’s ‘word’ artworks.
I visit the cinema regularly but also stay at home to watch my collection of iconic classic films by directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Stanley Kubrick and John Huston.
I have been captivated by animation since childhood. The animator I most admire is Richard Williams and have found The Animator's Survival Kit to be invaluable for understanding how a character moves. I am also in awe of the craftsmanship and attention to detail needed to construct the Aardman sets, in particular the Wallace & Gromit shorts.
